Students were able to dress up as one of their favorite book characters. Check out all these amazing students and teachers as they marched down the hall for the Book Character Parade. Can you spot any of your favorite characters?
Mrs. Stanley and I had the pleasure of proudly displaying all of these amazing pumpkins in the library. Students and parents in 1st grade were asked to create a pumpkin based on a favorite storybook character. Swing on by the library to take a look at these cute pumpkins before they're gone.
The Brauchle book fair is open for business! Come on in and take a look around at some amazing books for the whole family. Mrs. Stanley and I would like to thank Mrs. Lopez and Angel Lopez for the amazing door and to all the other parents who are volunteering their time to make this book fair a success.
Why not try picking up a biography book next time you visit your library. There are many benefits as to why students should read this genre.
We have plenty of books here in the library and a free online source called Pebblego.com. Please contact your librarian for the login information.
As you read you and your child can examine the elements of biographies by identifying the setting, characters, events that occur through the person’s life, and finding the inspiring message known as the theme.
Once done get creative and use the free app called ChatterPix to tell us all about the life of your character. We welcome you to email your projects to us so we can post them on our website to share with others.
There have been many times when teachers and students rush into the library with a few minutes in search of a book they want or need only really knowing the subject or genre of the book. Mrs. Stanley and I have been making some changes to our non-fiction section and have categorized the shelves by subject/genre rather than following the Dewey Decimal system. We welcome you to come check it out!
Using the online catalog is a great way to find books located here in the library and to see if they are available for checkout. As we begin this school year 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders learn to search the NISD online catalog. After looking up books on the online catalog students practiced locating the books in the library. Click on the MORE tab above to see a tutorial on how to use the NISD online catalog.
